The Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, directed by Barthold Kuijken
Belgian conductor and Baroque flutist Barthold Kuijken leads the IBO in “The Colorful Telemann,” a tribute to one of our favorite composers. The program will be recorded in the days following the concert for a multi-volume IBO CD project on the Naxos label. Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) was a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach and possibly the most prolific composer in the history of Western music. Among the works programmed are a diverse selection of Telemann’s music, including Ouverture in C minor; Concerto in D, for solo violin, solo cello, and two solo flutes; Concerto in G, for two solo flutes and solo bassoon; and Sinfonia melodica in C, for two solo oboes and solo bassoon, composed when Telemann was 83! Join the IBO in celebrating the ongoing revival of Telemann’s art on Baroque period instruments!
